Statistical Tests of Correlation and Association In-Person

When we want to show a relationship between two or more variables, we are often looking for a test of correlation or association. What type of test we use will depend on whether we're dealing with numerical variables, rankings e.g. from Likert questions, or counting associations between categorical answers e.g. in a survey. This workshop will help you choose the appropriate test based on the type of data you have and discuss Pearson, Spearman, and chi-square tests. This will be practical using SPSS, along with how to interpret the output correctly and how to present the results in the right format for publication. To download SPSS for your own laptop SPSS - Software Downloads - LibGuides at De Montfort University. If you are using a university-managed computer you will need to raise a request with ITMS to install SPSS. This is a face-to-face workshop; the PCs in the room have SPSS on them.
