Drawing Bootcamp: Learning How to See in The Drawing Centre In-Person

During this series we will look at how to break images down to draw.

  • Session 1 - 

    Measured drawing techniques. 

    During this session we will learn how to draw using a technique called ‘Measured drawing’. This will help you analyze size scale and proportion and how to break objects down into simple forms. 

  • Session 2 -

    Cone of vision, picture plane and single point perspective. 

    This session will provide you an opportunity to explore simple elements of perspective and placing objects into a picture plane. Part of the session will be outside so bring suitable clothing. 

  • Session 3 -

    Two-, three- and five-point perspective. 

    This session will provide you an opportunity to explore more complex elements of perspective. Part of the session will be outside so bring suitable clothing. 

  • Session 4 -

    Rule of thirds. 

    Throughout this session we will be using a combination of sketchbooks and our mobile phone cameras. We will be looking at the rule of thirds to photograph and produce images using this grid system. 

  • Session 5 - 

    Composition Basics for image creation. 

    This session will explore the basic principles of composition in the ‘Great Artists course’. We will explore the elements in designing a good image composition. Please bring mobile phone cameras/ digital cameras and sketchbooks as per normal.
