Decolonising DMU LLS Community of Practice In-Person
- Aim: To outline the action plans for each of the LLS Decolonising DMU areas. Invited to align yourself with one or more areas. To generate ideas to develop each area and identify staff interested in contributing to each area of development.
- This forum will:
- provide a safe space where issues of race/racism and Decolonising DMU can be discussed and debated
- work with the Decolonising DMU team in identifying gaps in activities
- give staff the opportunity to provide feedback and influence Decolonising DMU
- Enable attendees to act as advocates for Decolonising work across the institution and participate in activities to effect institutional change
Major strands of LLS Decolonising DMU current plans are:
Decolonising our collection
Develop a better understanding of BAME student engagement with our services and spaces
Promoting “Workforce diversity” within our own staff, to our students and profession
Raising staff awareness of the issues of Decolonising DMU and exploring meaning, implications actions and outcomes
Things you may wish to think about:
What are the key concepts/issues of the above strands of practice and how do they relate to my professional practice, service delivery and development?
How do they impact on the student’s learning, experience and attainment? Can I change this impact?
Please come along ready to share your thoughts, ideas and experience
