Dissertation Conference: Get your dissertation or extended report sorted! In-Person

This conference is designed for both undergraduate and postgraduate students working on a dissertation, final year project or another type of research project. 

The event will start with  a keynote presentation by Bertha Ochieng (Professor of Integrated Health and Social Care) and a lightning talk by DMU alumnus Derrick Mensah (Special Projects Officer, DMU).

Participants will subsequently have a series of parallel workshops to choose from:

  • Planning and structuring your dissertation or final year project (30 places*)

  • Organising ideas and making your writing flow

  • Visualising your final project (36 places*)

  • Planning your primary research

11-11.50

  • How to 'sound' critical in your writing
  • How to write a literature review
  • Making sense of statistical data
  • Research and critical reading (30 places*)

* Please note that due to the nature of the activities provided, some sessions have limited places (as specified in red). These will be available on the day on a first come, first served basis.

All participants are invited to attend an Ask the Marker panel session (12.30-1.30pm, HU 3.05), where you will have the opportunity to ask questions to a panel of experienced dissertation markers, from all faculties across the university
