How to use note-taking software and Dragon for transcription of research data

How to use note-taking software and Dragon for transcription of research data In-Person

Level: Beginner.

Software: Dragon and Audio Notetaker

Dragon allows you to speak naturally to dictate and edit your written assignments. Speaking to 'your computer' may feel strange at first, but the Dragon workshops aim to show you how to “type by voice” efficiently.

In this workshop, we will look at how to prepare your Dragon for dictation to quickly write up your interviews or other audio into text. We will use Sonocent Audio Notetaking software for editing and playback of the audio captured.

We will look at how to:

  • create your User Profile and how to add different audio sources from which you will be dictating or transcribing  (microphones, imported recordings etc.)
  • personalize the Vocabulary with custom words and phrases, pronunciations, capitalization properties to make sure Dragon transcribes words that can be written in different ways.
  • import or capture audio with Audio Notetaker
  • audio edit & playback in Audio Notetaker]
  • export Dragon written text to Word.
