Maths Learning Centre tutorials are moving online…

Book a slot for a 30-minute email tutorial.

What if I can’t find a slot?

Please be patient while we are making the transition to an exclusively online support system. New tutorial slots will be made available from the 30th of March.

The MLC team supports students with Maths and Statistics queries.

You will need to email us in advance to let us know what you need support with.

The more information we have the better the support we can offer. Please follow the instructions in your confirmation email. This may involve scanning and attaching documents. Be as specific and detailed as you can with your queries – letting us know which parts you do and don’t understand.

If your query is about Statistics, you will need to upload/attach a data file.

We offer statistical support to help you:

  • Consider the purpose of statistics
  • Design a questionnaire
  • Use statistical software packages e.g. Excel, SPSS, Minitab
  • Explore data and carry out descriptive statistics
  • Choose the right statistical test and analyse data
  • Interpret data and understand what your results mean

In Statistics, we are not able to:

  • Do the analysis
  • Advise on the subject of the project
  • Provide technical software support or advice
  • Proofread

Please note the responsibility of your statistics project and analysis is yours, be prepared to make the decisions and value judgement for the work.

Please note: To allow as many students as possible to access our service, a maximum of two tutorial per week can be booked with MLC. If you book multiple tutorials, your first appointment will be kept. The remaining MLC tutorials for that week will be cancelled. You will receive an email confirming the cancellation.

If none of the times is suitable please email us: mlc@dmu.ac.uk.
